FIVE NOMINATIONS FOR THE 61^st GRAMMY AWARDS

Columbia Nashville GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter Maren Morris began 2018 with her third single, “I Could Use a Love Song,” reaching No. 1 on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase Country charts, as well as touting a GRAMMY Award-nomination (her fifth nomination at the time) for the very same song. Now as 2018 nears its end, Morris bookends another explosive year of her career with even more hit songs (“The Middle,” “Rich”), five more GRAMMY Award-nominations, being crowned the most played female artist by Mediabase Country for the second year in a row, and tallying multiple PLATINUM certifications.
 
To begin the year Morris yet again took the world by storm by lending her vocals to what would become one of the most recognized and successful songs of 2018, “The Middle,” along with global electronic house DJ/producer Zedd and electronic duo, Grey. With “The Middle,” Morris racked up multiple multi-genre “firsts” when “The Middle” broke the record for MOST WEEKS at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart, tallying 28-weeks, in addition to becoming the first Country act to ever top the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart.
 
In an announcement last week Morris, a prior GRAMMY Award-winner for BEST COUNTRY SOLO PERFORMANCE for her debut hit “My Church” and no stranger to blending songs and sounds across genre lines, amassed FIVE nominations for 61^st GRAMMY Awards spanning across all genre General Field categories to Pop to Country. The nominations for the annual awards to be held February 10, 2019 include RECORD OF THE YEAR (“The Middle” – Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey), POP DUO/GROUP PERFORMANCE (“The Middle” – Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey), COUNTRY SOLO PERFORMANCE (“Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters”), COUNTRY DUO/GROUP PERFORMANCE (“Dear Hate” – Maren Morris feat. Vince Gill) and COUNTRY SONG (“Dear Hate” – Maren Morris feat. Vince Gill). In addition, the songwriters of the Zedd/Maren Morris/Grey-performed massive hit “The Middle” received a nomination for the all genre General Field category, SONG OF THE YEAR.
 
Turning to her home of Country music, Morris’ sassy fan favorite song “Rich,” the fourth single for Country radio off her major label debut album HERO, closed out 2018 by reaching No. 2 on the Country airplay radio charts, just weeks before Morris would be named the most heard female artist by Mediabase/Country Aircheck; a feat that Morris has now achieved a second year in a row. Before “Rich” made its arrival to the top of the charts, this past October Morris learned that her first three singles from HERO had achieved PLATINUM status by the RIAA: “I Could Use a Love Song” (PLATNUM), “80s Mercedes” (PLATINUM) and “My Church” (DOUBLE PLATINUM).

Morris will close out 2018, and ring in 2019 by performing live on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2019” from the Allstate^® Fan Fest in New Orleans, where locals and tourists gather each year to celebrate the New Year in advance of the annual Allstate^® Sugar Bowl^®.
